This is a reproduction of our Trade Price List from 1962.Prices in 1962 were in LSD - that's right - good old Pounds, Shillings and Pence.
To convert to a meaningful currency, you need to know that there were 12 pennies in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound.
The UK converted to decimal currency (100 pence to a pound) in 1971.
For example, a Men's Nylon Sailing Smock would have been the equivalent of £2.14p trade, about £4.00 in the shops!!
There are some wonderful inventions in this price list, for example the De Luge was an idea to replace the umbrella, just a hood and shoulder covers that could be kept in a bag, or briefcase.
The Abri, was a one man tent or bivi, that had an inflatable frame instead of poles! Very lightweight and easy to pack away. Perhaps we should launch some of these designs again!.
